My name is Victor L. Daniels, I'm the son of Claude L. Daniels and grandson of Mary Daniels. I do remember that day vividly, a cool crisp Saturday morning, as for I spent every chance I could visiting my grandmother. I was 10 years old at the time of the crash and remember as a child being hurt and confused of the fact that my loved ones, I'd never get to see again. Not only did I lose a parent and grand parent, but also 2 cousins, Tracey and Clyde. Being a child at that time one of the things that stuck out in my mind was a bicycle that I had stored in my grandmothers garage was one of the first things that came to mine, knowing I would never ride that particular bike again. Not seeing the neighbors on either side of where my grandmother live was another cherished thought. My stepfathers mother stayed approximately 3 doors down from my folks and thanks to God almighty she wasn't home and survived the incident.
As time passed and I grew up I then only realized the impact of such a tragedy on our  community. Since then many friends and family has passed on with out any lasting monument of this dark day in Wichita history.
A monument was erected on McConnell AFB, which was a tribute to those people who died on the ground and crew members of the KC-135, but I feel that something should be erected on the actual site, so those in the immediate area can have something that will connect them to just what happened that day.
I have many feeling and thoughts about what happened that day and since, but I just wanted to share with you as to how myself and many others have been affected by truly a time in this city's history.
