The Hubble Space Telescope is the most powerful ever built. There is no more in-demand instrument for astronomers. So, why would anyone point it at an empty patch of sky?

For 11 days, several astronomers aimed the Hubble into total darkness. The image they got stunned the world. In that small patch of sky they discovered 10,000 galaxies.
