December 9, 2009
To all those Patriotic Folks and especially all of our WWII
Veterans and their families.
Thanx to all for the attendance and interest in our December
5th Veterans reception in Great Bend. Things went really
well Saturday, and a huge thanx to LaVeta Miller, Duane Rea,
and the printers ~~~ They did an awesome job on flight #6
and #7 Tabloids. I have attached the 2009 Central Prairie
RC&D Council's Annual Report, and a flyer about what you can
do. Many people call and ask. Right now the same 10 people
are volunteering for this tremendous burden without
compensation carry the Honor Flight Project forward. Last
year at this time we emptied our resources and started
soliciting donations, again. We doubled the number of people
flown in 2009.
This year, 365 days later, We are looking at 2010. We have
twice as many waiting for Spring weather and a flight date,
we have Guardian donations for some to go but we still have
a huge mountain to climb and we need your help. The same
people are still carrying the yolk of this project. We
really need volunteers to step up, provide, leadership,
brainpower, connections, computer skills, networking, arms,
legs, and energy to fly in 2010.
As of right now we're announcing these Dates for 2010 Spring
Flights: Keep in mind we have donations for some Guardians,
and some Veterans but they fly in the order we receive
donations... Today, we do not have enough for one of these
flights to leave the ground. We have only the funds for
about 8% of the Veterans on our wait list. Remember, Last
year at this time we didn't have the resources
either...."People said it couldn't be done" This was
impossible ~~~ Since starting, in the past 21 months we have
sponsored eight wonderful flights taking 721 WWII Veterans
and their Guardians to DC and back. We have to rise up again
and raise the money, spread the word, and FLY them before it
is too late... We don't want to leave anyone behind and we
need to approach every avenue to make these flights occur.
