Central Prairie RC&D Council was authorized by Congress in January of 2001. Originally, slated with seven member counties, Barton, Edwards, McPherson, Pawnee, Reno. Rice, and Stafford. Ellsworth petitioned and joined in 2005. The Council is a non-profit, 501c3 that has mission, vision, and five year planning to “Improve Our Quality of Life” in Central Kansas. To date they have completed over 100 projects and leveraged an 18:1 ratio for every federal dollar involved in its projects. The CP RC&D Councils has won several State, Regional, and National Awards for projects that not only affect Central Kansas but reach across Kansas, the Midwest, Nationally, and internationally. More can be researched on our Website listed below.

In the case of the CP Honor Flight Project. Since March of 2008, the Council and hundreds of volunteers have received over $450,000.00 in donations, focused thousands of volunteer hours to sponsor 10 multi-day itinerary Honor Flights to Washington DC at large. 834 WWII Veterans and their Guardians have attended banquets, toured 11 Memorials, the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington, Smithsonian Museums, The Marine Museum, the Holocaust Museum and Ft. McHenry. With 650+ WWII Veterans still waiting the CP Honor Flight Committee is determined to fly all WWII Veterans as able, and then the Korean and Vietnam era Veterans in their turn to acknowledge their sacrifice and determination to preserve freedom throughout the world.
